Finding the "Twinkle"

I remember a photographer friend once told me that there is a world of difference between taking a picture which focuses on a particular subject and taking a picture with the whole composition in mind. Now looking back I understand where he was coming from, picking a subject and basing your photograph around that subject is second nature to most amateur photographers; but learning to produce a picture that is rich with multiple subjects, focuses and therefore interpretations is a bit trickier..

Some of my favourite (people/portrait) photos from my trip to Egypt, some of the literally thousands of photos were taken by my friend Rosa (the ones with the mother and child are definitely hers)

The House!

Title says it all - that and the sentence long story of one of my first blogs…

The first post on that blog was a stock picture of someone “diving in”, needless to say it was my first and my last post.

The theme for the next few posts will be portraits of people close to me. I haven’t yet decided whether knowing the subject very well, perhaps too well, makes the process easier or harder.
